Hot Rock

The cubs are now about 8 months old. The whole family can't quite fit on the heated rock like they did in the beginning of winter. 10 minutes after I took this picture I went back and saw this. Everyone sound asleep but half the family is in the snow!

Bronx Zoo Amur Tiger Cubs

The Bronx Zoo welcomed 6 new tigers this summer - 3 Amurs & 3 Malayan. The Malayan Tigers are not on exhibit in the cold weather but Amur or Siberian Tigers live in cold climates and are on exhibit all winter long. The cubs are normally very active and playful in the snow. I ventured out in the snow finally to see them play only to find them all cuddled together on their heated rock. Not as cute and fun as cubs playing in the snow but still a great opportunity to see them. They have already grown so much since November when I last saw them! I can't image how big the Malayan cubs will be by Spring when they are visible again!
